We are SO excited to share our DIVERSE VOICES Book List – just for our school! This list features books that help tell the many different stories in our world. All of the books in this list are currently available for purchase in our Scholastic Book Fair! Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop wrote that children’s books should serve as “windows, mirrors and sliding glass doors.” List creator and RAH co-chair Elise Bryant says, "We hope the stories on this list will help your children to feel seen, and also learn about and explore the lives of others."
Reading At Home is a PTA-sponsored program that sends kids home with their own book to read. We earn "Scholastic Dollars" from our Book Fair sales. With those dollars, we purchase books for our RAH program. Those books are then distributed to every Longfellow student. We are doing our very best to make sure kids get a book twice a year, but it does depend on sales. We will be using safety precautions when we get books to kids this year! Stay tuned on how we'll get these books to our VIP kids (that's all of them!).
