LONGFELLOW PLAYGROUND PROJECT, PHASE II
Fundraising Completed
Completion Goal: Late Fall/Early Winter 2020
September 2020
KABOOM! and Foresters Financials are returning to Longfellow to help complete phase II of the playground project! Estimated goal for installation of the new play structure is November or December 2020 and will be installed by a professional crew. Volunteers will not be utilized as they were with the Sport Court due to the desire to limit large group gatherings. The final design and installation date for the play structure will be announced soon!

Have you had a chance to see our NEW SPORTS COURT and upgraded playground?! The dream to make over the Longfellow playground has been 10 years in the making and it's finally happened! Our playground committee worked with Kaboom this last year and Longfellow was chosen to receive a Sports Court and additional playground upgrades! While the bulk of the cost was paid for by Foresters Financial via a KaBOOM! grant, PTA easily had the additional funds needed on our end to make this happen due to amazing fundraising from the Jogathon.
Many people gave up their summer to prepare for the build day on August 17. THANK YOU TO THE AMAZING PLAYGROUND COMMITTEE AND TO ALL THE VOLUNTEERS WHO CAME OUT AUGUST 15-17! It was an amazing success that was even recognized by Councilmember Al Austin and Mayor Garcia. Now our students have a place to play soccer (much needed!), tennis or volleyball. After many years of trying to enhance Longfellow’s playground, it is wonderful to finally see this addition.

August 12, 2019
On Saturday, August 17 approximately 250 volunteers + children will be part of the exciting playground build. Longfellow PTA has been working with KaBoom! and Foresters Financial, the funding partner for the project, to plan all the work it will take to create a new play space for Longfellow students and the local community. The main feature will be a Multi-Sport Court that will allow children the opportunity to play soccer, volleyball, or tennis. Additional amenities like benches, painted table-top games, asphalt games, and a stage to name a few, will be part of the many projects that will completed to upgrade the vast black top into an area for play and fun.
We have reached our capacity for working volunteers, however, Longfellow PTA invites all community members to attend the following:
1:30pm - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
1:45-2:45pm - Poly High School Soccer Clinic for Kids
We hope to see you there!!!
